Retro Video Games have become a very large part of my life recently. I moved back home from college and began digging out the old video games from my childhood. I have been collecting games my whole life beginning at the age of 5 years old with the Commodore 64, Atari 2600 and Nintendo Entertainment System. My parents would buy us games and I've managed to keep these games in decent shape all this time.I never would have expected them to be valuable, but I've found that they are. As I was looking through my collection I found games like Final Fantasy, game review, VII, Secret of Mana, Xenogears, Contra, and many others.
To my surprise, some of these games sell for the same price as when they were first released! I don't have any plans, game review, to sell games from my collection,, game review, but it's nice to know that some of them have held their value well and some have even gone up in value. This brought my attention to how much demand there is for some of these old retro video games. I've begun visiting flea market, thrift stores, and also started looking for retro games on ebay. It's a lot of fun for me tracking down copies of these games that I missed during childhood, as well as building a valuable collection of games for myself.
I hadn't, game review, realized how many consoles and games I had missed out on growing up until I took a look back at everything that was released over the years. I have just recently gotten a Sega Cd,, game review, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, Colecovision, TurboGrafx-16, Atari Jaguar...all consoles that I didn't have the money to buy earlier in my life.A lot of the games for these systems aren't very good at all, but each one has a nice set of "gems" that I am very excited to play. The only, game review, problem now is that some of these games cost A LOT, game review, of money!
TurboGrafx-16,, game review, game review, games I have had a lot of trouble finding around my city so I have had to resort to eBay, game review, . Games range from $30-50 for the ones I'd like to play so it, game review, may take a while for me to build my TurboGrafx-16, game review, collection. The same goes for the Sega Saturn. There are games on that console that are well over the $100 price range. This is just the beginning of retro video game hunt, but in a few years hopefully I will have a lot more of these games in my collection.
