Darkeden - A Detailed Review
These horrific, game review, figures are in a power struggle, trying to prove which species would prevail. For those who enjoy gothic/horror themed games, Darkeden is a must to try.
Currently there are 3 races in the game which you can choose from; Slayers, Vampires, and Ousters. Once your race is chosen,, game review, you can specify your character to a specific "branch".
Slayers
This is a good race to start off with. If you're unsure of what to be, I recommend starting off as, game review, a slayer.
Slayers play as the "humans" in Darkeden. The reason why I recommend them for beginners is because they get all the essentials right from the very beginning. Slayers can branch off into 3 types of "branches". They can either be a Blader (a slayer who uses blades/swords), Enchanter (a slayer who uses holy magic), or a Gunner (a slayer who uses guns). Generally, I wouldn't recommend a Gunner to a beginner, just because they're hard to level up and, game review, the guns can get quite expensive in the beginning.
I've heard that Bladers, game review, tend to have it easy in the beginning. Enchanters are good as well, but you will definitely have an easier time with Bladers. Once you've reached the high levels,, game review, being an Enchanter is actually a good idea. Since you'll be dealing with Vampires, Enchanters have a lot of holy spells that can really hurt them.
Vampires
These suckers can be really deadly if you know how to play them (pun intended). Vampires can be very tricky to play, so I wouldn't recommend them for a beginner.
I've always looked at successful vampire players as either of the two types; "Strength vampires" and "Intelligence Vampires". Of course, there are some odd builds out there which surprisingly do well. The reason why I say Strength and intelligence is because a lot of the spells/skills for vampires revolve around those two stats. That's why, if you're not sure what the skills do, or which one to get, you'll end up with a really contorted build. However, if you do decide to start off with vampires, going to a "strength build" is a very good idea; a lot of the skills in the beginning require strength to increase their damage.
Once you're in your prime, game review, stages, you can switch to an intelligence vampire. These types of vampires can really pack a punch with their spells. Not to mention, ward of any slayers threatening your space.
Ousters
I'm not as familiar with ousters as I am with Slayers and Vampires, game review, . Ousters are pretty much the "neutral race". They are depicted as Amazonian warriors which doesn't require blood for their living, but the sun rays instead. So from that description, you can just tell what they're like.
I believe they can go, game review, two separate branches, one would, game review, be the physical build, and the other is the magic build. With the physical build they are able to use things like Chakrams. You would typically need to increase your strength stat to improve the damage. For magic build, you'll be, game review, dealing with the elements of nature. You can equip wristlets, game review, depending on which elements you're specializing in. Ousters have fire spells, water spells, and earth spells.
This can give you a wide variety on which route you should take when playing an ouster.

Copying Xbox 360 Games - My Experience With Xbox 360 Backup Software After 1 Month
I had tried copying Nintendo Wii games straight on the computer using the standard PC DVD burning software.
Unfortunately it couldn't override the manufacturers', game review, protection that is on these discs, so after half a dozen blank DVD's were resigned to the bin, I decided to 'splash out' on something that would really do the job.....if I could, game review, find such a thing.
Well, I did, and the success to date has been really good. The software I bought cost under $30 and was available to instantly download after I had made my secure, game review, online payment. It, game review, is extremely user friendly even for a relative technophobe like me.
Even my 11 year old son has burnt backup copies of Xbox 360 games, and also his Wii games too.
This article is designed to be a bit of a report on the results I have achieved using this software, and whether I believe it was worth the investment.
Affordability
Based on the fact that a new Xbox 360 or Nintendo, game review, Wii game costs in the region of $40 to $70, the software I bought cost around half the price of a single game. I have now copied Xbox 360 and Wii games, game review, for my family,, game review, twenty three games in total, of which the originals are now safely stored in perfect condition.
I feel that the small outlay is excellent value for money.
Usability
As mentioned, my 11 year old son can use this software, and it has successfully copied Nintendo Wii games as well as my Xbox ones. I have also used it to make backup copies of a few PC games I have. The user interface is extremely intuitive and I cannot fault it. It claims to be able to copy PlayStation games as well as GameCube and a few other platforms.
Value for Money
I am not usually one to make impulsive purchases online, and in this case I did a fair amount of research, looked at user reviews etc before forking out the money, game review, .
It was time well spent as I got a great piece of software that does everything it says it will.

Apple Tablet Review of the IPad
The Good
Familiarity is the key selling point for the Apple Tablet. The iPad runs a modified version of the current operating system used in the iPhone and iPod Touch. The tablet will synch all your iTunes files, charge and connect, game review, using the firmly established white 30 pin connection cord, allow, game review, you to purchase applications from the pre existing app store you are used to and the iPad will even transfer the songs, videos, games and helpful apps, game review, that you already legally bought (avoiding a "double dip" of a dual purchase for the same content).
The screen resolution is beautiful. Every apple tablet review gushes about the 1024 x 768 high resolution display of the iPad's 9.7 inch touch screen. The majority of the other technological specs are designed to impress. The CPU clocks in at 1 GHz and provides plenty, game review, of lightning quick power for a handheld device. The, game review, built in wireless devices on the tablet, WiFi and Bluetooth, will connect and run just as seamlessly as, game review, the current generation iPhones and iPods.
The Bad
Get ready for the bad, because there is plenty to complain about with the new iPad. Storage comes in three dainty sizes, 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB. Regardless of how Apple tries to spin the size of the internal hard drives, these are tiny for a product intended to compete in the netbook market. USB drives come in comparable sizes for a fraction of the cost (another issue with the iPad, but this is true of most apple products). Enjoy watching TV shows and movies on the go? With the minimal hard drive space the apple tablet can barely hold a dozen movies and a single, game review, season of the average television show.
This won't truly be a problem though as the battery life is expected to last less than 10 hours under heavy use. Basically, it won't last a full day under consistent usage with a full charge.
The Ugly
Deal breaker time, and there are plenty. No built in USB ports, no flash support for web pages, no webcam, no SMS text messaging, no Skype video conferences or calls and monthly fees to access the exclusive AT&T 3G network are just a few. But nothing pales in comparison, game review, to the lack of multi-tasking.
To put it simply, the touch screen miniature apple tablet with the power of a netbook, same size as a netbook, costing twice as a much as the average netbook, designed to bridge the gap between cell phones (iPhones) and laptops (Macbooks) CANNOT RUN MORE THAN ONE APPLICATION AT A TIME! For a product designed as mobile device, the inability to run multiple applications at the same time is without a doubt its greatest flaw.
Wasted Potential versus Crushing, game review, Reality
Every apple tablet review speaks of the potential of the iPad.
It has the potential to be apple's next big game changer, but its apparent shortcomings, game review, and suspiciously missing norm applications and hardware specs also leave the door open for a, game review, major flop. The best analogy I've come across compares the Apple iPad to a concept car. Similar to a pre-production concept car, the apple tablet iPad introduces plenty of new technology,, game review, great ideas, sleek and modern design but its implementation aims at lofty goals while ignoring the current market and reality, game review, .
It's lacking in basic functionality and there, game review, are simply too many faults in the iPad's initial version. Essentially, wait until the multi-tasking is ironed out and for the iPad apple tablet version 2.
The World's Most Popular Board Games
Image : http://www.flickr.com
Board games have been in existence over centuries ago. The oldest known board games trace as far back as 5870 B.C. This just proves the human necessity to be entertained and challenged at the same time. Board games, more than any, requires mental strategizing. Unlike sports, where the mind is challenged as well but concentrates more on the physical capabilities of the player, board games requires the competence of the player's thinking process and quick-wittedness to win. This is one of the attributes that set apart board games from many other games.
Board Games Live and Die
This does not mean, however, that all board games are successful. Board games live and die depending on their popularity. If there is an art in playing them, there is even greater art required in creating them. Senet and Mehen are board games traced back in ancient Egypt, but their existence in contemporary or popular culture is almost nonexistent, but their evolution can be more recognizable today. Truth to be told, it is the applicability of the game towards the modern times that, most of the time, decides if the game will live on or wither away.
Grandparents of Board Games
Backgammon, Go and Chess are probably the oldest games still played today. Backgammon is considered as a race game. It requires moving one's pieces across to the other side of the board. This game needs to roll dice to determine the moves of the game. This game dates back to ancient Egypt, around 3000 B.C., and it's believed to have evolved from the ancient game of Senet.
Go is believed to have originated in China back in mid-2000 B.C. specifically, it can be traced to Emperor Yao, and subsequently its popularity spread to Korea and Japan. Chess, on the other, was believed to have originated in India in the 6th century. Scholars consider chess to have evolved from an ancient game called Chaturanga.
Clearly Go predates chess a few thousand years back, but they have their similarities. Each only requires two players, and they have to outwit one another. It is not surprising to know that chess originated from India, a country that shares a border with China. However, one glaring similarity both Go and chess have is that they are both war games.
Ancient forms, yes, and nearly incomparable to the war strategy games modern times have to offer in video games. It is believed that both these games came from tribal warlords who used same looking pieces to strategize their attack plan.
In retrospect, having war games as the oldest, still popular board game in present times does give people an idea why it is still applicable today.
Modern Times, Contemporary Board Games
There have been countless board games that have come into existence in our time. But little have the shelf life as the most popular board games still being played today. The exclusive list includes:
* Monopoly
* Clue
* Risk
* Life
* Snakes and Ladders
* Checkers
* Scrabble
Of course, Monopoly is almost recognizable across the globe. This is strange because Monopoly isn't exactly the easiest game to understand. Yet, despite this, the Guinness Book of Records recognizes Monopoly's worldwide appeal, with over 750 million having already played the game. To think that it has been in existence since 1935, Monopoly's staying power is a testament how real estate, business, banking, and investment is applicable in our times.
Clue, on the other hand, relies on murder and mystery to keep players interested. Risk is a perfect example of how ancient games like chess came about and Go have evolved to adjust to their cultural environment. Life, in contrast, predates Monopoly. It was created in 1860 and simulates, well, life. Marriage, career, and so on are part of the game, and people find it enjoyable to imagine what life would be like, or what life could have been, in this game.
Snake and Ladders is also another popular board game. The trouble with this game is many adults do not find it appealing. That is why it is nearly exclusive only to children. Adults normally find games depending on chance boring. Relying solely on the dice to determine the player's fate is not as challenging as most adults would want from board games. The player's fate in Monopoly is also determined by the dice, but unlike Snakes and Ladders, it still requires players to strategize.
Checkers, or English draught, is another popular game believed to have stemmed out from the form of chess and Go. Still, it is still considered as one of the most popular board game today. In fact, it is more popular than Go, which is commonly associated with Japan.
Lastly, there are the word games. Scrabble is the most popular among all word board games. Like chess or checkers, there are even world competitions for Scrabble. Word Factory, which can be loosely considered as a board game, is also a popular word game.

Each bubble dome will contain a number of enemies that you obliterate, game review, and collect their artillery from to prepare yourself for the next challenge in the next bubble dome. One of the most highly talked about features of the first game was the artistic nature of the different offensive tanks you could choose to morph into.
Well Bubble Tanks 2 does not let fans down delivering more spectacular sites in, game review, the form of, game review, bubble cluster fire power!
The path you choose to go down with regards to tank advancement is one of the main features of the game. You can choose between a fast firing and nifty tank, a heavy duty serious punch packer or a hybrid. Personally I chose the big mother because I prefer to stand and fire instead of moving around and shooting too much. Less is more in my case!
The big tank does not always suit the environment though, especially in crowded bubble domes where space is limited and there are many enemies firing at once.
It can be very difficult to dodge all fire, game review, and so you can soon become unstuck if your not careful! Also when fighting specific, game review, enemies they will unleash a series of small, game review, homing missile bubbles that will need to be taken care of, since your big tank fires slowly you can often find many of these getting through and destroying, game review, your tank!
I would not say its all good when choosing the nifty, agile tank either, now the problem does not lie in your ability to dodge enemy fire but instead its the amount of time you need to take down any particular one.
Your shots are weak and therefore you will end up getting caught out for spending too long neutralising, game review, a group of enemies. You could find yourself surrounded due to your inability to dispose of enemies before they gang up.
So is the hybrid tank the solution? Possibly, on my further tank upgrades I started to choose a balance between speed and fire power and it seemed to get that little bit easy for me when venturing into more threatening domes with a hybrid tank. I would recommend choosing hybrid upgrades if your new to the game.
If the type of tank you choose doe not suit your game play you need not worry, as you will get plenty more opportunities to respec in later upgrades. So how do you upgrade your tank? Well like in the first game you need to collect a certain amount of bubbles before you can upgrade your weapons and bubbles are split by dead enemies. Likewise if you take a hit from enemy fire your tank can be downgraded. So it's best to avoid as much enemy fire as possible.
So what, game review, is it about Bubble Tanks 2 that makes it such an addictive flash game? I really could not put my finger on one particular reason.
I found myself, game review, sat staring at the screen and playing the game for hours without realising. I think its, game review, the simple nature of a click and fire game mingled with the games delightful graphics and the urge for 'just one more upgrade'
Whatever it may exactly be I will warn you that if you start this game be prepared to be glued to your chair for a considerable length of time.

The fact that the game is structured on days makes it even more interesting for the storyline.
I will give a honest ( 4.5* / 5* ) for Learn To Fly.
Bubble Shooter Game Review
Whatever method you, game review, prefer, and whichever format you like your games to be, game review, available in, the makers of Bubble Shooter seem to have thought of them all.
As with all of the Bubble shooting style of games this is easy to play and has simple rules and straight forward play methodology. It is quite addictive to play and the player would be wise to complete any work needing to be done, or appointments needing to be kept prior to launching this cute but demanding application, game review, .
The main objective is to clear the screen and there is only one basic method by which to do this, simply fire your bubbles at the multi-colored pack and have them explode in front of your eyes. To do this one has to have a minimum of three similarly colored bubbles on the field of play and by striking them they will explode and clear that part of the screen.
The game is won or lost when either the bubbles reach the bottom of the screen or the player manages, game review, to clear all the bubbles from the screen.
The play itself is simple, just line up the arrow with the direction you wish your bubble to travel and click the pointed part of the arrow to fire your, game review, bubble towards the pack. If you manage to explode a set of bubbles with more than three of the same color, then that "hit" will be worth more points than a pack of three would be. So, as an example, one set of six bubbles is worth more than two sets, game, game review, review, of three.
There are six different colors of bubbles, no one color is worth more points than another.
The player will also notice some silver bubbles at the base of the screen, these are the number of missed shots allowed before you forfeit the game.
There are four play modes with this version;, game review, strategy,, game review, arcade, sniper and marathon and the game therefore has four different levels of expertise. The mode names give an indication as to the nature of the difficulty element of, game review, playing them. There are also numerous sound effects, great 3D graphics and well developed computer physics for the interaction and direction of bubbles during play.
There is also the ability to save or replay a game. If the player is part of an online community multi-player games are available,, game review, the one main difference in scoring being if an opponent loses his/her game first,, game review, game review, the winner collects those points in addition to any earned in their own game.
If you like Tetris, Lines or any of the other major games in which you are interactive with shapes on a screen, then this game will be one of those you cannot leave alone and will demand your return time and time again.

I liked this game. It has hidden objects, puzzles and adventure. I was a little disappointed that it didn't last long enough. Before I knew it, I was at the end looking at the credits. There was a couple of times when I looked at the puzzle for about 15 minutes and wondered, "What do I do here?"
