Great Backyard Games For The Whole Family

Image : http://www.flickr.com

What could be nicer than having a nice weekend at home have a picnic and then getting up for some great backyard games. Backyards are great for holding mini games for kids and even adults. They allow the uninhibited space of the outdoors and the privacy of your own home. There are lots of fun games you could play in your backyard. Here are a few games you and your family are sure to enjoy.

1. Hopscotch

Hopscotch is a timeless hopping game that has been with us for centuries. The goal of the game is to make a diagram on the ground which players have to hop into correctly to advance. Although there are hundreds of diagrams to choose from, you could settle for your favorite ones instead. Players take turns hopping through squares that are marked 1 to 8. Players should use one foot unless the square indicates otherwise. Some variations of the game require the players to pick up markers from each square. This game if open to many variations and still retains the fun and excitement of the original.

2. Backyard Sports

Some sports can be played in your backyard. Sports such as badminton, flag football, and backyard basketball can prove to be worth an afternoon of fun for most families. Equipment for such can be pricey or economical; you might have to do a little research on them before purchasing.

3. Duck, Duck Goose

This is only one of a plethora of backyard chasing games you could play in your backyard. In this game, players form a circle sitting on the ground facing one other. The it walks around tapping the other players heads and proclaiming them either a duck or a goose. Once a person is tagged as a goose, he must chase the it around the circle before the it can sit in the place where the goose used to sit. If he is unable to do so, he becomes the it for the next round.

4. Dodgeball

If your backyard has enough space, dodge would prove to be a timeless, fun, and exciting sport to play. Two teams play this game. The it team will have players on both sides of the field, while the other team will have players in the middle of the field. The it teams goal is to hit the other teams member with a ball. If the player is hit, he has to leave the field. The game goes on until there are no more players in the middle field, then the teams switch. Teams could implement a scoring competition based on such.

5. Baby If You Love Me Smile

For those who are not looking for an athletic afternoon, this game will fit the bill. Have the players form a circle and put one it in the middle. The it then approaches the other players and asks them Honey, If You Love Me Smile. The player approached should reply Honey, I Love You, But I Just Cant Smile. The goal of the it is to make the player smile while saying this. The it may do a variety of funny faces and other strategies as long as there is no contact. Or, if the players agree, allow limited physical contact.

Mark Buehrle's Perfect Game

Mark Buehrle has given us another great moment. His no-hitter against the Texas Rangers two years ago has got us cheering. Now its going to start all over again. On the Tuesday game with the Chicago White Sox playing the Tampa Bay Rays, leftie Mark Buehrle has left Chicago in absolute joy.

In his second no-hitter, the timing could not be better as this win boosted the White Sox head to head with the Detroit Tigers for first in the Central Division. Accoring to MLB.com, his no-hitter on June 21, 2009 has earned him the title as the "25th big league hurler to hold his opponent hitless twice in games of nine innings or more." An amazing feat to be held to. As Buehrle struck out his 27th hitter, the crowd roared like no other.

Accoring to MLB.com, accomplishing "the rare and historic feat of 27 up and 27 down" earned him a spot in the Elite 18, an exalted group of MLB pitchers that have drove past this feat.

Not only did the Sox win, but they won by a a whole 5 points. The were ahead of the Rays in every way. Mark kept the Tampa Rays at bay (get it?). The most intense part of the whole game was when a hit was smashed toward center field and what was going to be a home run turned into an out. The man of the hour was Dewayne Wise. As he jumped to reach over the wall, the ball landed in his mitt and he fell only to stand up, holding the ball proudly.

May Mark bring his third soon.

Free Online Games

Image : http://www.flickr.com

There are just too many online games in the internet right now. There are practically new online games being released every day throughout the year.

This is perhaps a good indication for those who possess a degree in software development or programming. For the hordes of gamers out there, this would sound even more promising.

Most of these online games are "free". Free as in you don't have to pay a single cent to play these games. Somehow, the equation doesn't seem to add up right. If these games are free, then who's going to pay those individuals who've created and developed those free games?

On logical input of funds would probably be through advertisements. However, this method of financial input is not really applicable for all those free online games out there. If you're one of those online gamers out there, you should've probably noticed that you could actually purchase certain advantages in the game itself for a certain charge. How else would they earn enough to feed the game programmers in their line-up?

As the old saying goes, nothing in the world ever comes free (with certain exclusive exceptions though). Most online gamers would only go for free games. In fact, these gamers have an underlying principle of not spending any money in free games.

However, there is a certain element of addiction in the process once a gamer progress through a game. In the end, the gamer would realize that he cannot complete the game unless he pays for certain advantages.

One word of advice to free online gamers out there, almost nothing comes free in life.
