Following their crop of Konami conversions, Imagine have turned their attention to licences acquired from another Japanese coin-op company, Taito. After versions of Ark android and Slap Fight, comes Renegade, starring another pixel based avenger in the Charles Bronson mould. The scene is set: travelling across town, late at night to reach your girl. Lucy, you meet gangs of ruthless villains, crazed with blood lust by the full moon. Big Bad Bertha is their Boss, a large woman who rushes around, elbowing you painfully until she's subdued with a few well-placed kicks.

Nearly in the arms of your beloved... but the last gauntlet has still to be run - the street leading to the meeting place, where a gang of razor-wielding thugs attempts to prevent progress. A single slash is more than painful - it's deadly. Surviving the close shave merchants, you enter one building where Lucy waits, along with a gang of the most vicious thugs yet met. And their leader isn't armed with a fuzz box - he's got a gun, and he's not afraid to use it.

Gratuity

This violent little number, which allows you to hit a man when he'd down - you can kneel on a fallen assailant and smash his brains out. Literally - isn't exactly mind- improving. But the violent touches add to the atmosphere and make Renegade all the more enjoyable to play. The gangs met on the jaunt across town ail have their favourite dirty tricks - for instance one thug grabs you from behind and holds you while another gang member beats you senseless, but hunters can be shaken off and then beaten to a pulp while they are down. You can fight dirty too, though, and can deliver a mean knee to the groin.

Classic System Rating: 3/5 for Gameplay and graphics. Worthwhile game to play and enjoy.

I began to invest in war games early in life. They often satisfied my need to create my own fun. Naturally they led me to electronic gaming and I would guess that this is similar for fellow gamers. I don't dislike video games for the reason that they are like a sibling to physical games, as both of them are a combination of the same ideas, but they both have opposite results in human development. It shouldn't go unsaid that the money spent on either is about the same. Golf is not just a game about hitting balls and craning your neck to see where the ball has landed. This is an intensely mental and physical game that takes preparation in order to have a successful game.

Why do I have to prepare?

There is a lot of golf club swinging, walking, driving around, carrying of golf bags, and looking for almost lost balls at the course. It's important that your body is prepared for this intensely physical event.

Another thing to prepare for is the mental aspect that is in every game. There will be a lot of thinking over on game play and strategies in each round of the game.

How to prepare?

1. Before leaving your home, check the latest weather report and wear the right attire according to the weather. If the weather is sunny, wear a cotton polo and pants.
You may also wear short if the club permits it. Wear a hat and sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun. If you're expecting rains, bring your umbrella and rain wear.

Also before leaving, your golf bag should have been prepared before hand with not only the usual things such as clubs and balls but also towels, extra shirt, spare socks, sport drink, and shoes.

2. Arrive at the course an hour early and use the time to take care of your game equipment and accessories. Be early and you avoid being overly rushed to start the game. Being rushed affects the physical as well as mental aspects of your game.

3. After preparing your equipment, do proper warm up of your swings at the putting green, this will build your tempo throughout the game. This is where you can observe your ball and where you can control your speed accordingly.

Some players will get their heaviest clubs and start practice swinging slowly for 10 to 15 minutes. To maintain rhythm that you can use throughout the game, you can hit puts or chips before moving on to the bigger area, the range.

4. Proper exercises do not mean running around with your equipment, it means doing slow stretches of all the muscles groups that you are going to use while playing the game. Stretching for 15 minutes is good as it improves your range of motion by 17 percent plus your back will thank you for it.

Warm up is important because swinging is an explosive move and you don't want your back and other muscles to be hurt in the process because you did not warm up. If you want to enjoy golf for a long time, this is a must. A perfect example of a long time golfer is Tom Watson who at the 2009 Open was 59 and still able to swing his clubs with ease and smoothness.

Stretch your arms, back, neck because they are used in swinging the club. It's important that the legs are stretched too because when you swing your legs are the foundation and lastly stretch your torso muscles because this is where you get the power in your swings.

After warming up, there might be time left for you, you can stand aside try to stay loose through practice swinging. Remember that if you want to succeed in golf, failing to warm up properly sets you up for failure because you will lack concentration and would potentially hurt yourself.

This is a wonderful game. It does not have those very hard puzzles at the end of a level. It has a variety of hidden object type things. Find all of the bottles. Find all of the pieces of paper. Instead of words of what to find "pitcher, glove" it will have just the outline of the object (the vases are really hard). Then it also has the words to find them. It has find the differences. Find the similar items. Thats 4 types already and I think there are more. Also decipher the words (scrambled letters). And these are all for one room!! I just always click the "skip conversation button". Now, I did the download so the disc game might be longer. This is a pretty long game though, like 26 levels. It took me maybe 6-8 hours to get through it. I don't know why it is so expensive, that's what makes me think it may be longer / harder in the disc version. Enjoy!!!

The graphics are absolutely amazing except when dealing with the human enemies. The snow pirates are crudely drawn sprites that resemble a cross between a Sand Person (from Star Wars) and an arctic expedition. The scale of monsters like the snow worms in Mission 3, or the giant moth from Mission 5 is just incredible. I've never seen this on a PC game before. I checked the specs for the Xbox 360 and PS3 only to find it was "top of the line" when they debuted. Almost any 0-0 PC setup today would have significantly more processing muscle for games, so why aren't we seeing more graphics-rich games today except for Crysis?

The controls take time to become familiar, because it was a crudely ported game from the Xbox 360 platform. When you've gotten comfortable with 1 control setup for Wayne and his VS's, you find that it no longer becomes efficient for another VS - especially the last VS that resembles a cross between a Gundam, Appleseed/Vexille suit, and something out of Soul Caliber.

The latest version of Lost Planet is automatically installed when you log onto Steam, so you get the bonus downloadable content which isn't much to write home about.

Pros: Great graphics (except for human enemies), robot suits galore, decent Akrid AI, interesting Akrid bosses, and a riveting plot.

Cons: Quirky control setup due to it being a Xbox 360 port, the mechs/VS's aren't all that great, and the human AI gets annoying at times.

Overall: 4/5
